International Women’s Day was celebrated at UC on March 8 with various events throughout the day, including the launch of the University’s bold new gender initiative, BroadAgenda. Based within the University’s Institute for Governance and Policy Analysis and a product of the 50/50 by 2030 Foundation, BroadAgenda is a blog for ‘broads, blokes, brawn and brain’.
The blog aims to explore the constructs of gender equity in a safe environment where anyone and everyone are invited to participate. Virginia Haussegger AM, director of the 50/50 by 2030 Foundation, was joined by VC Professor Deep Saini at last week’s launch to encourage everyone to broaden the national conversation on gender equity and women’s leadership.
UC is proud to be a leader in gender equity, recognised from launching BroadAgenda and playing an active part in the 50/50 by 2030 Foundation, being crowned Employer of Choice for Gender Equality for the tenth consecutive year back in December, being a White Ribbon Accredited Workplace, and as an inaugural member of the SAGE Athena SWAN pilot program.
This demonstrates the University’s continued commitment to ensuring gender equality and diversity in every aspect of University life, and UC is proud to support an equal and fair community.
