Study Skills Drop-ins for assistance with understanding and structuring assessment tasks as well as support in finding resources, writing and referencing will continue to run in the Library (Short Loans area) during Winter Term from 10.30 am to 3.30 pm.
Academic Skills and Knowledge (ASK) Advisors, who provide support in the above areas as well as with enquiries about UCLearn (Canvas), Mahara (ePortfolio), Wi-Fi and printing etc., will be available from 10.30 am to 4.30 pm at the red Study Help desk in the Library.
Peer-Assisted Learning Sessions (PALS) will be held for the unit Alterations in Health 1 (9067). These free weekly group study sessions are run by later year students who have successfully completed the unit. A great way to study content and meet other students in the units, PALS are held in the Student Resource Centre (SRC), ground floor (Level B), Building 6.
Free drop-in learning support for Mathematics and Statistics for students across the University is also running during Winter Term in the Maths and Stats Help (MASH) Centre in the SRC.
Students needing support can also use the online tutorial and assignment feedback service, Studiosity, through UCLearn. This service is available 24/7 and students can submit assignments for feedback usually within 24 hours. Students can also connect live with tutors in subjects across a variety of subject areas including general maths and science, biology, chemistry, physics, business studies, economics and study skills.
Before the start of Semester 2, Study Skills staff will be delivering the third of four free, Intensive English Courses. The course is designed to help students improve their academic reading, writing, speaking and listening skills and runs over four days, from Monday 23 July to Thursday 26 July 2018.
